Up For A Movie?

Emily & I have always loved to watch movies together. One of the first things we did when our friendship was forming was to watch The Birds. Many atimes 11:00 PM has come around, we should be asleep, but you can find the two of us snuggled up in Lauren's room crying through a chick flick. This afternoon as I lazily lounged on my bed and Emily sat curled up in a blanket, we laughed through a Knight's Tale. Emily will be married soon--I'm sure there won't be as many movie nights available, but I treasure the many memories we have already. And in fact, many a memory will be made tonight as we continue our movie magic after dorm meeting...

Lacy & Lauren

If you want to see scary, meet Lacy and Lauren. Commonly known in Jacksonville as Lucy and Ethel. We have come up with some crazy schemes and lived out some even scarier adventures. Like the time we ran around my house with butcher knives afraid someone was breaking in, or the time we drove up and down the same road trying to find a restaurant to eat at for probably 30 min., or forgetting to put on sunscreen and Lauren looking like a giant lobster, or just stuffing ourselves with cheesecake and watching chick flicks till all hours of the morning. When I need a rest from study time, I think back over fond memories of hanging out with Lacy.....
"HHHHHHIIIIIIIIII...." ( That Touch of Mink)
Mr. Fireman, come put me out.

Sick of Sickness

Well, I've exhausted the word "sickness." I'm ready to indeed take it out of my vocabulary. What are some of the things people do when they are sick? Oh, I could write a book on these matters, in fact I could write a paper on it...Shame it could not be one of my many papers due....
First off, when one is sick, one can not accomplish an adequate amount of schoolwork. I found myself feeling refreshed after say, five hours of lying in bed, and bounced out ready to attack a paper, but three seconds into the matter feeling like I was on a merry-go-round. Off to bed.
I'm a movie fanatic, but really, watching Anne of Avonlea, Pocahontas, Ever After, a bit of Lord of the Rings, and I Love Lucy episodes in just 36 hours is a bit of an overdose even for me.
My final reason is pure boredom. What is one to do when confined to a dorm room in sickness? Well, there is absolutely nothing to do. So, needless to say, though I have already slept eleven hours of the morning away, I'm ecstatic about the progress my health seems to be trying to make in improving in the right direction....

Pete the Pumpkin

Meet Pete the Pumpkin, the newest "friend" in Duncan's dorm room. Pete was purchased with tender, loving care at the local Wal-Mart Grocery and his personality came to life via a sharpy pen. He informed me that he loves his new home, he just can't stop smiling about it....

Romance

"We are living a modern Anne of Green Gables," Emily stated this fact as we watched this classic, beloved story unfold. Cavanaugh curled up on the floor with a blankie, Duncan, feeling sick as a dog on the bed saying, "No, No, the world is spinning so fast...." We began laughing as we realized I lived such a life as the dramatic Anne, and she passing life by with the attitude of Diana. Many an October afternoon should be spent watching such a sweet romance....Well, minus the sickness part.

A Heart Broken For A Nation

Memories flooded my mind today...Though the Philippines is on the other side of the world, it is held so near to my heart. I thought about the old man I witnessed to at a bus stop- People who werewalking by stopping and staring as a timid white girl got down on her knees next to him and quietly shared the Gospel....Of a little girl climbing up on the bench next to me and letting me play with her soft black hair....Traveling over miles and miles of hard terrain in order to preach to the furthmost city....Looking into the sad eyes of a Filipino Pastor and hearing the joy in his voice though his wife is filled with cancer....Presenting the Gospel to thousands, and knowing that one day I'll see that precious person in Heaven. Though I do not believe God is calling me to be a foreign missionary, I do know that He has broken my heart over the lost, and for this nation.

M.I.T.

I'm a M.I.T. (Mom In Training). Some have informed me that I always tend to have a baby in my arms-Which could feel very true at times. The picture you observe to the left is of baby Hanna, a little one you can find me carrying around the campus every Monday night for a few hours.
Baby Hanna and Baby Anna-Kate, and for that matter, in baby that makes its way into my arms during a Sunday morning, always finds a special place to nestle down in my heart. Being an only child, it has been such a blessing to get to experience a baby in my arms. I was telling Emily today that I want a whole mess of my own little ones running around one day...

The Lord's

"I am He. I am the one who fights for you. Even when you feel like you are in the middle of a war, the battle is not yours-it is Mine. So let Me open your eyes of faith, & you will see that the victory is won." Taken from His Princess by Sheri Rose Shepherd

"I will look to the Lord; I will wait for the God who desires to save me; My God will hear me-Enemy, you have no right to rejoice over me; when I fall, I will arise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light." Paraphrase of Micah 7:7-8

Casablanca

Casablanca is my Dad's favorite movie and one of my all time beloved films. Just tonight I sat with an awe-struck look on my face as I beheld the sad love story unfold..."Of all the gin joints in all the towns, in all the world, she walks into mine..."

As the movie comes to a bittersweet end, Rick turns to Ilsa in an emotionally charged moment and says, "Where I'm going you can't follow. What I've got to do you can't be any part of. Ilsa, I'm no good at being noble, but it doesn't take much to see that the problems of three little people don't amount to a hill of beans in this crazy world. Someday you'll understand that. Now, now . . . Here's looking at you, kid." And with that she walks away into the mist... A good romance just makes my heart happy. Of course, my heart is just happy right now...

42 Pictures & Random Thought

(Emily, I choose this one out of the 42 taken... )

His plans are beautiful and good...

"One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple."
Psalm 27:4

A Twin Bed

People with BIG imaginations shouldn't ponder certain situations. For instance, last night I was thinking about the subject of nuclear bombs. Why? I don't know exactly why I was thinking about this particular type of explosion--But it did not produce happy bedtime thoughts. Eventually, I ended up knocking on Emily's door, asking her if a nuclear bomb was scheduled to explode tonight, and sat in horror as Emily began to share with me the details she read in a book concerning the effects a nuclear bomb can cause. My white, stricken face must have brought concern to Emily and she hesitatingly asked me if I wanted to sleep with her tonight. Joy swept over my countenance and I darted to my room in search of pillow and Baby Bear. Thus, last night was spent in a twin bed with Emily. ( And yes, she can testify that the covers were indeed over my head...)

Scared Silly

Emily and I scared ourselves tonight. She came scampering into my room, and I promptly retrieved my camera and began snapping random poses....

...Needless to say, it turned into silliness.

Delightful Duncans

I came across the realization tonight, that indeed, I have never made mention of my family. Tragedy struck my heart, and hence this entry has been written in honor of the Duncan Family. One of these pictures was taken at a wedding, and the other in San Francisco--I believe you can figure out which was where...

Indeed, my family is grand. My Dad ships medical supplies all over the world, and my Mom stays at home.
She used to be a college English teacher, and continues to point out grammatical flaws on my blog.

We are a happy little bunch. My Dad has the sense of humor that makes me laugh silly, whilst my Mom does indeed enjoy being the happy little home-maker. I am of course, the delightful daughter (or so I think) and always bring merriment and joy to my family. (o my, I should not lie)
