Mr. Barton
Tonight as I worshiped in dorm meeting, memories flooded my mind when we sang Amazing Love. One of the first times I heard that song was when my youth group sang it. This lead to thoughts of my home church, FBC in Jacksonville, FL.
Lately, I've been pondering what God truly desires of me--The standard He wants me to be striving toward. Tonight, as I thought about memories from my church, I thought about one of my heros, Bob Barton. Mr. Barton was my Middle School minister when I was a brace-faced middle schoolar, but I knew him way before those years. My parents have worked in the Middle School department at church for about 17 years, so I grew up knowing this Godly man. He can preach a powerful sermon to middle schoolers, his heart is so cleary intertwined with them. It was under one of his sermons at a camp that I felt called into the ministry. Mr. Barton has held one of the biggest influences in my life. When I need encouragement, I think about this mighty man of God who always holds the standard high and continues to love the ministry with all his heart.

Dear Lauren, I love you too! I just want to say Thank You, thank You and thank You again! Thanks for reminding me of those heartfelt
moments of worship that we experienced so often. Thank you for the kind words. But most of all, thank you for inadvertently reminding me of my own preaching. I used to tell you kids, a time or two, to "Never Let Anybody Steal Your Song." Your story reminded me of the struggle I am currently facing here in Jax. leading our awesome College department. Would you pray that I would not let anybody, or anything ever steal my song?
I am very proud of you.
