Pastors Conference
Jordan & I have been enjoying the Pastors Conference in my home town for the past couple of days. From hearing a challenging sermon by Dr. Mohler to laughing over evangelist Junior Hill's stories, it has been an immense time of spiritual growth.
Tonight tears welled up in my eyes as I watched a great pastor present his final sermon before retiring from his church, First Baptist Church. Dr. Jerry Vines preached one of the greatest sermons I have ever heard, and as he ended walked down the stairs of the platform, Bible in hand, and tearfully bade farewell to his congregation before walking out one of the double doors. Bittersweet is the only word that could describe that moment. How hard it is to watch the pastor you have known all your life leave your church, but yet the joy of knowing that a new chapter is beginning for the Vines'. I looked around as Dr. Vines brought his sermon to a close- People dabbing at their eyes, Junior Hill looking like he was reflecting on some good memories, the stillness and reverence was so thick....Then, as soon as he exited the building applause erupted for this man of God whose ministry has impacted so many.
